Income Tax Calculator

Enter your annual income to see your income tax and how it breaks down by band.

Estimate for general information only — not financial, tax or legal advice. Always check the official figures (GOV.UK / HMRC) or speak to a qualified adviser before making decisions.

This shows the Income Tax due on a given income for the 2025/26 tax year using England and Northern Ireland rates: a £12,570 personal allowance (tapered away above £100,000), then 20 percent, 40 percent and 45 percent bands. National Insurance is charged separately. Scotland uses its own bands, so Scottish taxpayers will see a different result.

Frequently asked questions

Is National Insurance included?

No. This tool shows Income Tax only. Use the Take-Home Pay calculator to see tax and National Insurance together.

Why does my personal allowance shrink above £100,000?

The £12,570 allowance is reduced by £1 for every £2 of income over £100,000, disappearing entirely at £125,140 — which creates an effective 60 percent marginal rate in that band.
